Not the most popular or anticipated game for the sim crowd, I know, but here are some details anyway

VVV seem pretty thorough, though having said that, there isn't much in the way of info, just screens in these articles.

I did see elsewhere that a helmet-cam view will be an option, one that tilts and gets buffeted about during the race (and presumably by the psychotic AI, if the first Shift is anything to go by  ;))

Yup, going by the first Shift, I'll be checking gameplay and reviews first before buying this one. I'm hoping they've fixed the AI and physics, but this is EA we're talking about...

Did anyone ever play this one?

I see today that it comes free for PS+ this month.  I'm a little concerned as after MANY tries I never got that Sly game to download uncorrupted.  Hopefully this works and is worth the effort of downloading...

Not played it myself, tried the demo of SHIFT1 and instantly checked out, from what I hear number 2 is just more of the same.

A few of my friends have it, they say it's nothing special, not a patch on GT5. Not worth the cash tbh.

(Unrelated note: Woah, what's this little red spellcheck line I'm getting on some of my words now? This is new... >.> )

No, sorry - I never even got around to it.

For me it was the casual ramming/wiping out of other cars, even in career mode which turned me off Shift.

hmm, thanks for the info guys.  If it's attempting to be a sim like GT5, then yeah I'm sure it's better stick with GT, I wasn't sure if it was more of an arcade title.  I still may attempt the free download, but frankly my hopes aren't high for it work anyways.

I had NFS: Shift 2 but ended up returning it.  It was not as good or fun as the first one in my opinion.  I really liked the first one though.  It is more of an arcade/sim racer.  If they made the first one available on PSN I would download it as I have missed that game since I traded it in to get Shift 2.

EA claimed that it was gonna be a GT5 beater *Insert biggest laugh track ever here* Yeah well...let's just say they didn't quite pull it off. The physics were somewhere between sim and arcade and virtually unusable, the gameplay actively encouraged dirty driving and contact, and their representations of cars and tracks, tracks in particular, were not even close to realistic. What they did to Spa Francorchamps was sacrilegious! I mean, a swinging ship fairground ride at the bottom of Au Rouge? Seriously?!? They didn't even try to make it real.

Ok, I decided to download this and give it another try since it was free.  I don't know if they patched this since the initial release but it seems to play a lot better now.  I am actually enjoying the game.  I know Rhymane has expressed his feelings on the series but I would recommend giving this a try if you are looking for something different.

With my new router and success with big downloads I decided to give this a go again.  Amazing how nice it is to get big downloads installed on the first try now!  I can't get over it it's so awesome  :D  I love being able to take advantage of all the free games in PS+, especially the bigger ones  :-X

Anyways, I haven't tried the game yet but the download last night installed perfectly this morning so soon enough I'll get this tested out.
