Originally mentioned a while ago on another thread about upcoming games, I've seen more stuff about the game since, but didn't think I'd have the time available to get this so didn't look any deeper.
Out in June and already the graphics have been re-vamped:

There's even a fun advert as promo...just have to love the tag-line 'From caked on spleen to totally clean'

Typically, any game I like the look of seems to be un-loved in general. Well, it was cheap at work today, so we got it
With luck I should have a chance to play some of it today and so find out for myself if this is all just good looks and no content, or yet another hidden gem.

This is really quite funny, definitely irreverent but that was know from before release - you even get a trophy for trying to peek under Juliet's skirt...she will block you from looking though, so it's all quite tongue in cheek.
Completed almost two of six chapters now (as well as the prologue) and the gameplay is quite varied, giving you plenty of chances to try out the various combos. Once you have completed each chapter, you can replay them whenever you fancy to improve your score and try 'to beat Juliet's dad's best' (she is from a family of zombie hunters.)
It does have a fair amount of button prompt scenarios scattered throughout the gameplay, which is something I don't really like. These are consistently the same though, unlike FC3 which changes the animal attack blocks randomly. I'll live with that though.
Gameplay is pretty fluid overall, only a couple of places that the combos didn't seem to do what they should. The attacks when you pull off a combo are quite spectacular and effective, making the gameplay enjoyable.

The game continues to get better with more combos becoming available. The six game chapters plus prologue are all quite different in gameplay composition, each boss battle too is done by a different programmer, which I found to be an interesting idea.
This has taken button mashing to a new level it seems with lots of little sub-missions peppering the mix.
Subsequent playthroughs on harder difficulties have additional enemies...such as an octagenerian breakdancing couple in the prologue, who are really tough to beat. Also the lollipop locations are altered.
So in wrap up, it's fun, quite addictive and really quite bizzare.

Is it creepy stuff at all or just bright areas? I know they explode into glitter etc. Just wondering about the atmosphere.

It's all quite sparkly and cartoonish - no real creepiness, even the blood is more
Tom & Jerry
in style.
I know it isn't an issue but it's only fair to warn that there is a fair bit of language.
