Interesting quotes from Jaffe on this article - well said!  :-X

I didn't find a topic and I'm not sure if this should be in driving or action...let me know if this should be moved. :)

Equally both?  :P

Oh btw.  They were aiming for a Teen rating originally, but got an M rating for one of the cutscenes and instead of toning down that one cutscene, they're bumping others up a notch to well... make it even more M rated.  :P

Man, I definitely gotta get it now. (Delayed to Valentine's day   ;)) I think TM2 was the first TM game I played like crazy at my friends house back before I had a console and I had a blast with it every time back then.  I personally got TM3 and another one with remote controlled cars when I got a PS3 (though maybe I shouldn't have because Jaffe had nothing to do with those I think and apparently they weren't as good as 1 & 2.)  He did however do TM:Black, which I wasn't allowed to get because of it's M rating for one of it's cutscenes.  (LOL The same thing has happened with the new game, so they are bumping up other things instead of toning down the M rated cutscene   ::)).

Anyways, the new TM hasn't completely won me over as a must buy (over other games... like he says himself  :P) (partly because of how expensive buying all these games is now) because I don't really feel that the gameplay of the original games holds up and is as fun as it was when I was a kid.

But I do want to make sure I get it now.  Yes, Jaffe might have a bit of an ego and there might be up and down parts of whether you like him or you don't like him, but the whole thing/story ends up coming around and ends up as a nice keynote.   I think it's pretty deep and I recommend watching it.

(Also, thank you Firefox for saving my spot when my laptop decided to blue screen while writing this.  :P)

I've barely scratched the surface of that keynote, but so far I find it interesting.  I like what he said about hearing Katzenberg and how he aligned it to how his parents guided him.  I'll watch more as I can.

As for the game, it's always been a "maybe" for me, and even by Feb I assume I'll still have lots of games from this fall I haven't played or completed yet.  I never played any TM game so I don't have a natural affinity to it based on previous titles.

I actually got to listen to the whole thing while doing other stuff on the PC.  Very interesting and true.  It was like encouraging and a punch in the gut all at once.

I think he hit the nail on the head about being afraid when you get older - afraid to make a mistake, or lose out on money, basically the fear of not providing well, and consistently for your children.  That can definitely stifle creativity and the willingness to take chances - the things that typically lead to "greatness".

I've never done anything as interesting as create a video game, but I can feel that change that he went through (we are very nearly the same age).  The "other side of 40" is so true.  I'm teetering directly on that precipice as we speak  :P

This fits in with what I've been thinking of lately with my kids and the paths they may take - I certainly hope they can pursue what they want and hopefully turn that into career.

And for them (and you young jgr) heed the warnings of Jaffe and guys like me.  Don't be afraid to take some chances and follow what you want to do.  You're young, with nobody to worry about but yourself - so take advantage of that man.  Not that marriage and kids are a bad thing by any means, but you'll have plenty of time for that - get out there and follow your "voice"!

Intersting trivia: Dragula was also used in GT2's OST (well, for the US version of the game at least). And dare I say this, but it fits pretty well lol.

That trailer gives me a very old school TM vibe, which is a good thing. The old formula for TM is perfect, so 'blinging up' the game like so many other developers do with sequels nowadays would ruin it for me. Not liking the blood splatter when you kill someone though. The old TM doesn't show graphic violence, which is why I can still enjoy it, but if this title starts to show gore then I'm afraid I'll pass it :-\

Idk about gore, but you toss the enemy team's "leader" into a shredder in one of the multiplayer modes...

If it's a separate mode you can avoid it at will though. I'm more concerned about the portrayal of violence in the core Deathmatch mode, as that will be where I spend most time playing.

Jaffe has been doing a lot of vlogs lately on Youtube.  This time he vlogs himself in his house figuring out tweaks to make while he's driving around the rooftops level.

There's a video on this link, 27 minutes of Jaffe.  He addresses the Online Pass and day 1 patch.  As you know he didn't want a PSN pass, but he lost to Sony's wishes.  I haven't watched it yet, 27 minutes are hard to come by...  I usually like Jaffe.

I almost want to buy they game just to support him, I'm just not sure I can warrant spending the dough when I want the VITA the following week... EDIT:  well and the game looks fun  :P
